From the President – April 2022

Hello Realtors and Affiliates! Happy Spring!

It is hard to believe that we just passed our two year mark for Covid. It has been a difficult and ever changing time for Realtors®. I was recently out with another agent at a showing and we were talking about what it was like in those early months. Remember wearing gloves and masks and only two people were allowed at a showing?? Who would have thought that we would be using videos and selling homes sight unseen? All of us have gotten crash courses in Facetime, YouTube videos, Google Drive sharing and, of course, competitive offer writing.

And, while the market has remained very busy with low inventory and high demand, I am proud of the work our board has been doing throughout this pandemic. We have donated thousands of dollars to our local food banks and local schools, donated blood, given out scholarships and donated our precious time to other organizations that need help. We have helped people in the community who have been struck with disaster or medical issues. The fundraising we do is vital to those in our communities and important.

In June we will hold our annual Golf for a Cause. You will receive a link to show you all the ways that you can participate and donate. This is our largest fundraiser of the year for our community fund. I hope that every single member will donate in one way or another. If every single member committed to sponsoring a hole with a sign we would raise over $10,000 alone!!!

We will also be conducting our second annual Shred Event. We will be looking for Realtors® to help at this event by being present that day and spreading the word. This is a public event and another way we can help those in our communities.

Green-up Day is May 7th. Let’s get out there and help clean up our state.

At our last meeting, we held our legislative breakfast. It was informative and a lot of great information was available to those who attended. Our next meeting is on May 18th. One of my goals is to provide a member benefit at each meeting. Thank you to those who have given feedback that they love the meetings and content.

Elizabeth Bushey from VAR was present at our meeting to talk about current legislation in Montpelier and also gave us an update on our RPAC standings. We have met the current goals for the year but there is still time to invest if you have not yet made your investment.

Finally, make sure you set up your hub account on the Vermont Association of Realtors Community Hub. I urge all of you to go check it out, log in and create your profile. The VAR hub includes a CPBR hub where the members can send messages, post info in the library, etc. This is also where you can find your education certificates if you have taken classes through VAR. You can login or sign up here.
